Why Christians are stupid
My boyfriend just got an email forward from his Catholic family saying to refuse the new dollar coins because they took off “In God We Trust”. Christians are the majority of America and that’s fine. Atheists, agnostics and whoever else doesn’t believe in “God” want to actually enforce separation of church and state. That’s their prerogative. So what do I have to say about all of this?
In God We Trust wasn’t an original part of the United States. It became the national motto in 1956. That’s 51 years ago. Do you know what was going on 51 years ago? We were scared of communists. That’s right. We adopted God to protect us from communism. Like that is really what kept us from being overrun by them. In 2001, Florida added the motto to their state flag (and seal) and in 2003 Georgia followed. The phrase was added to different coins in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and was on all of them by 1938, even though people, including Teddy Roosevelt protested.
I think anyone who wants that motto to be taken off our currency and off anywhere else it is has a good stand. It goes against the Constitution to have any government organization supporting any deity, regardless of whether or not the majority of this country believe in it. It’s just ridiculous to think about how most Christians are so narrow-minded. They preach about openness and acceptance, but when you try to express a belief that disagrees with theirs, it all goes out the window.
Think I’m an atheistic moron? Think I have no basis for my claim? Beside recounting every personal example of this hypocritical behavior, here’s some proof you can watch for yourself. Morgan Spurlock, the guy who ate McDonald’s for 30 days created a tv show, ironically called 30 Days and in one of the episodes, an atheist spends a month in a Christian household. You can watch the entire show on You Tube. It’s broken up into 5 different parts. Here’s part one. Anyone who thinks I’m wrong, go watch that. It’ll blow your mind.
Disclaimer: I know all Christians aren’t bad, blah blah. Stereotypes are bad, blah blah. Stereotypes are that way for a reason. Most blonds are dumb, there are more black people in prison and most Mexicans are illegal. The fact is, most Christians don’t even know that much about the crap they preach. They haven’t read the whole Bible (it’s not that long, maybe you can’t memorize the whole thing, but you can certainly read it, especially if you’ve read the Harry Potter series), they don’t know what they’re arguing about. Hell, most of them don’t even realize Protestantism was formed because King Henry wanted to get a divorce and the Pope wouldn’t let him. Anyone want to argue? I’m up for it.

Actually, one thing I will say is that I go to a Christian college and they did teach us in our class that Henry did that and everything. I pray that you won’t let those close minded Christians continue to cause you to despise us so much. I’m Christian yet I love gay people, I think gay MARRIAGE (not a civil union or any of that BS) should be legal, I think the whole “Under God” in the pledge should be taken out, and I don’t believe in Bible thumping. You would be surprised how many kids on my campus are the same way. I promise we aren’t all bad, it’s just that the bad ones get the publicity, the good Christians aren’t interesting enough to be talked about or filmed with an atheist in our households. What kind of TV show would it be if an atheist came in the the home of a Christian who totally accepted them and didn’t judge them? It wouldn’t be a TV show lol! Most of us (especially the younger ones) are quite open minded. lol sorry this was so long. We can chat more if you would like feel free to drop me a line on my site or email me!

So have you read the ENTIRE Bible, yourself? If not… might as well delete your entire uneducated post, as it is completely null and void.
I’m guessing you have some sort of syndrome that made you gradually lose all brain cells..
or at least turned you into a big pussy.
love and huggles,
Jax

There is nothing wrong with Christians. They are NOT Catholics, which are different nearly entirely.

I’m an agnostic myself, but I agree with what Nicole said in that most Christians are not extremely bigoted/close-minded people. Like the saying goes, “Well-behaved women rarely make history.” (In this case, substitute “Christians” for “women.”) In fact, I have Christian friends who are some of the kindest, most tolerant people I know (their mother is *really* nice, even though she kept trying to convert me at one time :P) as well as devout Christian neighbours who keep doing all sorts of nice things for me. So yeah, there are some *cough*holes, but doesn’t every group (socioeconomic, religious, political) have its share? From my experience, the more religious Christians are actually really nice people (they say that all that “Bible thumping” etc. is actually against their beliefs or whatever.)
Oh yeah, and Protestantism was actually started by Martin Luther (he was against some of the teachings of the Catholic church, or something like that). Henry VIII actually started the Anglican church, which for all intents and purposes, was the Catholic church minus the “no divorce” law. (I took a “history of religions” class in my sophomore year, and that’s just one of those things that stuck. :P)

I STRONGLY disagree. I am a Protestant Christian and I have read the WHOLE Bible and have a good relationship with God. Nicole, it is against the God’s Commandment for people of the same sex to marry. Why are some Christians so WEAK?! And YES, you ARE an atheistic moron!!!
“Hell, most of them don’t even realize Protestantism was formed because King Henry wanted to get a divorce and the Pope wouldn’t let him.”
Thats NOT true. Martin Luther started Protestanism. And please DO NOT swear.

This coming from one who believes that they have a LITERAL relationship with God, and you think you have the right to call someone else a moron. Wow, that’s crazy stupid. Number 1, moron - a Protestant is Christian already by definition, so way to prove the author right. God’s commandments don’t count, that’s the problem with those of you who CLAIM to read the entire Bible and yet you’re still standing in judgement of others. Why Christians are weak is because they use excuses from the Bible for EVERYTHING THAT THEY DO instead of taking personal responsibility for anything. And yes, big surprise you prove the author right, YOU are a moron.
“Hell, most of them don’t even realize Protestantism was formed because King Henry wanted to get a divorce and the Pope wouldn’t let him.”
“Thats NOT true. Martin Luther started Protestanism. And please DO NOT swear.” - It most certainly is true you uneducated twit. Just because you can’t come to terms with that fact, that doesn’t mean a whole lot. You can’t even spell your own fucking Religion, so who the hell should take you seriously(three t’s in protestanTism, not two).
Sorry to tell you - those “history” classes aren’t worth shit, even in American History courses they are lying. 80% of what is taught to students is a lie. The Anglican church, Protestant church and the Christian church are all the same Religion with different names. So just like a good Christian, you contradict yourself; at least you picked up something from the Bible.
