Workaholic

May 19th 2007

I’m at work. Internet tech support kind of sucks. I talk to morons all day. If they were smart, they wouldn’t need my help. Actually, some people aren’t so bad. Most people aren’t that bad. Just some of them make me insane. And the ISP I’m doing support for is not the best. It’s DSL and a lot of people aren’t happy. But then again, they’re calling because something’s not working so why should they be happy…

I still have no inspiration for anything. I want a new layout for this site, but I don’t know what to do. I don’t even know where to start. I am in the middle of a new layout for my stepdad’s taxidermy site. So far I’ve got a hunter with a gun aimed at a deer. But I haven’t had time to finish it.

My time has been taken up by work. This week I’ve worked 35 hours so far. If I’m not at work or school, I’m watching movies. I love Netflix. We get 5 movies at a time for $30 a month. It’s pretty great.

An injury and a new job

April 30th 2007

Don’s ankles have been hurting him for about three months now. We originally thought it was his boots that he has to wear to work. The other day he finally went to the doctor and apparently two bones in each foot are semi-fused together and when he dropped a deer blind on his feet back in January, it caused inflammation. So he got a steroid shot in his left one and he’s getting one in his right on Wednesday. This semi-fused bone thing is more common than you’d think. The doctor told us that a lot of people have it and never know. Most people don’t drop five hundred pound deer blinds on their feet either.

I’m starting my new job today. It’s tech support for an ISP. I’m excited. Finally a job with computers. Training is all this week, from five to ten. We get to pick our schedules so I can work as much or as little as I want. I don’t have to put in notice two weeks in advance just to find out the time I needed off wasn’t given to me (like my dad’s wedding, something important that I had to go to, not the dodgeball tournament that half the store took off for).

A Bronco maybe

February 13th 2007

I’m finally going to get my Bronco this weekend. Don and I found a really nice 1995 green Bronco that this guy is selling. That was the beginningish of January. The guy still owed an extra $1000 so we had to wait until he could pay it off, which is hopefully going to be this weekend. He said. I’m excited and very ready to get out of the stupid Suzuki I’ve been driving that’s a piece of shit. It needed two new tires, an alignment, new brakes and something in the muffler. Good thing I didn’t have to pay for it. That car needs a lot of maintenance.

Work sucks. I don’t like it and it’s crappy hours. Although it’s not as bad as it could be. They tried to schedule me to close everyday this week, but I told them when they hired me that I can’t work past seven. So they had to change this week’s schedule, which I’m very glad of. I don’t want to be working until 11:30 pm. That’s crazy.

I start my internship the weekend after next. I’m excited about that. It’s clerical work that pays $10/hour. I work two eight hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 4:30 am to noon. The hours are kind of strange for the IRS, but it’s okay with me. At least it won’t take up my whole weekend. It’s only going to be for about 60 days, so that’s about 8 weekends. I should make about $1280 before taxes.

My photolog is coming along slowly. I’m addicted to that Lux risk game. I’m getting really good. At first I started on the easy level and was winning every time, then I moved to medium and now I’ve beaten the hard a few times. It’s exciting. The hard ones still kick my butt sometimes. Don hates it. He doesn’t like the strategic thinking games. He likes Pacman, which I like, too, but for me there’s only so many times I can eat dots.

Nibbler and Googlefight

February 1st 2007

So I found GoogleFight from SNOG! and I must say, it’s pretty entertaining. I just spent five minutes sitting there, watching people fight. And I won all the fights I participated in because there’s some old English writer named Sydney Smith and I have lots of Google hits. Well, my name does anyway. Which counts.

I just got a job at this BBQ place today. I’m supposed to go in tomorrow for orientation. I suppose it’ll be all right. As long as I don’t have to close because I am so not staying until 10pm and cleaning that place. No way, Jose. My boyfriend works at the same chain, but a different store because he applied at the other one first and they hired him on the spot. He’s actually at work right now. His is a lot farther away and he doesn’t get home until 11 or 11:30 pm. It kinda sucks actually.

Oh and I got a rabbit today! Woohoo! Her name is Nibbler and I’m not sure how old she is. I don’t have my camera cord so I took a picture with my ISight camera on my computer. She’s got red eyes. You can’t really tell from the photo since it’s in black and white, but her eyes are bright red. They are really pretty, but a little wild looking. My teacher’s daughter raised some rabbits for 4H and I guess had some left and she gave us this one. She’s really playful and curious, but my room isn’t rabbit-proof yet so I can’t let her run around unsupervised. I don’t want her to chew on an electrical cord or anything.

Also, I’m going to put up some more content for this domain. I’m working on a photo gallery. I’m not sure which script I want to use. I used to have one, but deleted it because I never updated. Maybe I’ll actually update this one. Eh, maybe not. Who knows.

When I was a waiter for awhile, the manager suggested I get Shoes For Crews. I never did, but decided to check them out. And there’s actually some that are pretty cute. I really like these Sabrina ones and these Mary Jane ones. They wouldn’t be so bad to wear. But I like the Reeboks I have now even though they aren’t slip-resistant. I almost busted my ass a few times at that restaurant. It would’ve been pretty funny, unless I was carrying somebody’s food. Then it wouldn’t have been so funny. Well, maybe it would still be funny. I really liked that job. It was easy and the atmosphere of the place was great. It was this little Mexican restaurant and I interacted with the owners everyday so that was nice. The guy is hilarious. He’s got one of the best senses of humor I’ve ever encountered. And his wife is really nice. They’re both white, which makes me laugh since they opened a Mexican restaurant. But in Texas, it works. They also own some other company and a mortgage company. They’re really nice people. I miss that place.
